Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers from your Tomball butcher.

The Shop

What are your hours?

We’re open every day: 10 am to 6 pm Monday through Saturday, and 10 am to 5 pm on Sunday.

Where exactly are you?

We’re at 24914 SH 249 N, Suite 190, in Tomball, in Tower Plaza next to Houston Garden Center. Searching “Eastwood Craft Butcher” in your maps app is the surest way to land at our front door. Get directions.

Do you deliver?

No, we don’t deliver. The best way to get Eastwood meat is to come see us. We’re open seven days a week, and we’ll help you pick out exactly what you need.

Can I order online? Why aren’t your prices online?

We don’t offer online ordering because everything we sell is priced by weight, and the meat business moves fast. Prices, and sometimes availability, can change week to week, so the case is always the most accurate menu. Give us a call and we’ll tell you what’s in today.

Can I preorder for pickup or request a custom cut?

Yes! Call, text or email us ahead of time and we’ll almost always make it happen, whether that’s a 2-inch ribeye, a special roast or a big order for the weekend. Phone: (281) 547-8891. Text: (281) 671-7667. Email: nick@eastwoodbutcher.com.

The Meat

Where does your meat come from?

Texas. We buy from local ranchers we know and partner with, and every one of them is listed on the board in our shop. Ask about any cut and we’ll tell you exactly where it came from.

Why is everything vacuum sealed?

Vacuum sealing locks in freshness, extends shelf life and lets the meat wet age in its own juices. It also makes storage safe and simple: no freezer burn, no leaks, and it stacks neatly in your fridge or freezer.

Why isn’t vacuum-sealed meat bright red?

It’s the oxygen, not the meat. The bright red color comes from myoglobin, and without oxygen it turns darker. Open the package and give it a few minutes in the air, and it will “bloom” back to bright red. It’s completely safe and normal, and the color says nothing about quality, good or bad.

Beef Shares

What is hang weight?

Hang weight is the weight of the beef before it’s cut. Share pricing is based on hang weight, and your take-home weight will be less once it’s trimmed and deboned. See beef share pricing.

How much is the deposit?

We take a 50% deposit when you order, and the balance is due at pickup. Deposits are non-refundable.

How much freezer space will I need?

A good rule of thumb is about 1 cubic foot of freezer space for every 25 to 30 pounds of packaged meat. Not sure? Call us and we’ll help you pick the right share for your freezer.

Deer Processing

What do I need to bring?

Bring your deer field dressed, with your tag. No hooves, heads, hides or feathers, please. See processing prices and options.

How long does processing take?

Most orders are ready in 1 to 2 weeks, and we’ll call you as soon as yours is ready for pickup.

Will I get my own deer back?

Yes. Every animal is processed individually and never commingled, so the meat you take home is yours.
